Flights delayed or canceled at John Glenn airport as Tropical Storm Debby approaches

Some East Coast flights were canceled or delayed Sunday at John Glenn Columbus International Airport as Tropical Storm Debby approaches Florida.

American Airlines flights to Philadelphia, Boston and New York, and United Airlines flights to Washington and Newark, New Jersey, were canceled this morning out of John Glenn, according to the airport’s FlyColumbus.com flight-status site .

Flights with significant delays include an American flight to Charlotte, North Carolina, a United flight to Houston, and Southwest flights to Nashville and Tampa.

Several flights into John Glenn were also significantly delayed including a Southwest flight from Fort Myers, Florida, and an American flight from Miami.

According to FlightAware.com , about 1,300 U.S. flights were canceled Sunday as of 10 a.m., with the most cancelations found on flights headed to Miami, Charlotte and New York.

Columbus air travelers are advised to stay updated with their flight status and allow more time.

“Our biggest piece of advice is to check with your airline about flight status and download their app for the latest information,” said airport spokesperson Breann González Almos. “In addition, with delays, lines may be longer than usual so please allow extra time at the airport.”
