A new affordable housing community is coming to Franklinton in 2026.
The Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) on Tuesday announced its plans to create a rental housing community of 234 apartment units near the popular River & Rich apartments in Franklinton.
The Westrich rental housing development will be for people making below 100% of the area median income ($69,500 in Columbus for one person and $99,200 for a family of four) and 80% of the area median income ($55,550 for one person and $79,350 for a family of four), according to CMHA.
U-Haul has top states, cities of origin: Where are new Columbus residents moving from?
“It will provide housing to wage-earners at a range of income levels that Columbus desperately needs,” said Charles Hillman, CMHA president and CEO.
The $70 million project is possible due to investments by private companies, the largest from Columbus-based developer CASTO.
Construction of the apartments is already underway on vacant land next to River & Rich, CMHA reported.
