Ohio police officer had been stealing cocaine from crime scenes, selling it

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKRC) – An Ohio police officer pleaded guilty to stealing cocaine from crime scenes and evidence rooms, and then selling it for more than $100,000. Joel Mefford, 35, was assigned to investigate drug crimes when he worked for the Columbus Police Department but in 2020 from February to April, Mefford and a fellow officer had stolen and trafficked cocaine three times, according to NBC News.
