Downtown’s Char Bar closed after suspected drunk driver crashed into building

COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) — The owners of a Downtown bar struck by a car over the weekend say they don’t know when they might reopen.

Char Bar announced it would remain closed as cleanup from Sunday’s crash continued. Columbus police said that a suspected drunk driver ran into the building at 439 North High Street near Vine Street at around 7:30 p.m.

Accused drunk driver in crash that killed Blue Jackets’ Johnny Gaudreau worked at rehab facility

The driver left the scene, resulting in CPD classifying the incident as a hit-skip. No one was injured in the crash. While the road was reopened on Sunday night, the sidewalk outside the bar remains closed. Columbus police said they are continuing to investigate, but have not shared information on the driver as of Tuesday morning.
