Franklinton house fire injures 2; fire department investigating

Two people were seriously injured in a house fire in Franklinton early Thursday morning, according to the Columbus Division of Fire.

Battalion Chief Jeff Geitter said the division responded to a house fire at 3:08 a.m. Thursday after a neighbor called 911. Two adults were found injured in the home near the front door, and were transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The fire occurred at a single family house between Bellows Avenue and Campbell Avenue, Geitter said..

Geitter said a neighbor believed no one was living in the home, but the fire department’s practice is to check for people regardless.

“We still always search every building for people,” Geitter said. “We always assume there could be someone inside.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
