WHITEHALL, Ohio ( WCMH ) – A mother charged with child endangerment may have additional charges filed against her after her 9-month-old daughter died on Monday.

Charity Dreyer, 21, was arrested after officers responded to reports of a nonbreathing child on Beechbank Road. Police found the 9-month-old as well as a 23-month-old who appeared to be injured. Both were taken to a hospital.

Deputy Chief Dan Kelso said officers believed it to be a child abuse case.

Court documents say Dreyer may have abused or tortured the 23-month-old, which resulted in a possible broken arm and head and neck injuries. A warrant was issued based upon a hospital statement about the injuries and observations.

The report did not contain information on the 9-month-old. Kelso said he was unable to release further details, but said additional charges are anticipated.

Dreyer was arrested Monday on charges related to the abuse of the 23-month-old and issued a $50,000 bond in Franklin County Municipal Court.
