Kassim Omar, 29, a Black transgender woman who immigrated to the U.S. from Somalia, has died as a result of injuries she sustained in a shooting in 2022. Omar died September 6 in Columbus, Ohio, The Columbus Dispatchreports. The shooting left her paralyzed from the neck down and incapable of breathing without assistance. Two teenagers have now been charged with murder.
