Man with lengthy criminal history issued hefty bond in Franklinton murder

COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) – A man with a lengthy criminal history was in court Friday to face murder charges stemming from a stabbing that took place in August.

According to court records, William Jones II, indicted by a grand jury on Wednesday, was in Franklin County Court of Common Pleas on Friday for an arraignment hearing. Jones is charged with two counts of murder and one count of felonious assault for the fatal stabbing of Justin Dahlin.

Dahlin, 32, was found inside his home in the 100 block of Cypress Avenue on Aug. 16. Police pronounced him dead from multiple injuries. Court documents state that Jones caused harm by means of a deadly weapon, “to wit: a knife”.

Jones’ charges include three repeat-offender specifications. His case was dismissed directly to common pleas court, where he previously has been convicted of five crimes.

In 1996, Jones was sentenced to three to five years for aggravated assault. In 2013, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to four years in prison for felonious assault in a case that also included charges of aggravated burglary, robbery and having weapons under disability.
