Pat McAfee Reveals Why Kirk Herbstreit’s Leaving College GameDay Early on Saturday

It’s another college football Saturday, and ESPN’s “College GameDay” is in Eugene, Oregon, ahead of a top-three matchup between the second-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes and the third-ranked Oregon Ducks.

This will be the first meeting between the two teams as Big Ten rivals. Oregon left the Pac-12 this past offseason and permanently moved to the Big Ten.

It’s not common for a “College GameDay” host to leave in the middle of the show, but this Saturday, Kirk Herbstreit will.

At the top of the show, Pat McAfee revealed why Herbstreit won’t be on set till the show ends.

He’ll be on a long flight from Eugene, Oregon, to Dallas, Texas, to call the Texas vs. Oklahoma game.

“It’s a great day in Oregon,” McAfee said on “College GameDay.” “It’s 6 a.m., and Herbie (Herbstreit) is gonna be on a plane at some point during this show. Lucky to be here…I’m gassed. I am gassed.”

The “Red River Rivalry” is scheduled to kickoff at 3:30 p.m. ET, so he needs to leave “College GameDay” about an hour early to make it in time for that game. The flight time from Eugene to Dallas is roughly three hours and 40 minutes.
