ESPN Host Takes Shot at ACC Fanbase on College GameDay

ESPN’s “College GameDay” is on site in Eugene, Oregon, for the highly anticipated matchup between the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes (5-0) and the No. 3 Oregon Ducks (5-0).

Droves of college football fans made there way to the set just outside of Autzen Stadium. The early wake up call, 6 a.m. local time, hasn’t seemed to keep fans in bed ahead of the biggest home matchup in Oregon history. The Ducks have never hosted a top five matchup to this point.

Noting the early energy from the “College GameDay” crowd, ESPN’s Stanford Steve took an opportunity to compare this week’s crowd to that of California-Miami in Week 6. It was the first time the Bears’ had ever hosted the show.

Stanford Steve’s allegiance to the Cardinals shined through, calling out the former Pac-12 fanbase.

“25 minutes in, this crowd is already way better than last week from that place we were at,” he said. “The energy, the energy is incredible.”

“That’s the Stanford guy,” Desmond Howard responded.

Stanford-California is the oldest college football rivalry in the west. “The Big Game” has been played each year since 1892.
