Following Oregon’s 38-9 win over Illinois at Autzen Stadium on Saturday, some Ohio State fans couldn’t help themselves from praising the Ducks on X, formerly known as Twitter.
No. 1 Oregon completely dismantled the No. 20 Illini, scoring 35 points in the first half alone to stay atop the Big Ten standings. As a result, fans across the country were impressed, including some Buckeyes.
While the Ducks dominated on Saturday, Ohio State struggled in comparison, escaping with a 21-17 win at home over Nebraska. The Buckeyes needed an interception by Jordan Hancock with just over a minute left to play to seal the victory.
Naturally, Ohio State fans were left unsatisfied.
Lanning is 29-5 since taking over in Eugene, while Ryan Day is 62-9 in Columbus. While some Buckeye fans agreed with the initial post, many others did the exact opposite.
Ohio State was coming off a bye week on Saturday, which could have contributed to its lackadaisical performance.
Still, criticism of the Buckeyes and praise of Oregon were equally well-heard on Saturday.
