The Tennessee Vols received some positive recruiting news ahead of their big game against the Vanderbilt Commodores.
According to On3’s Pete Nakos , 2025 five-star offensive lineman David Sanders Jr, a Vols commit since August, is not expected to visit Ohio State on Saturday for the Buckeyes’ game against the Michigan Wolverines.
Sanders caused some panic on Rocky Top last weekend when he took a surprise visit to Columbus for Ohio State’s win against Indiana.
Ohio State made a strong run at Sanders ahead of the early signing period, but there’s optimism that Tennessee will hold on to the coveted commit.
“As of Saturday morning, sources tell On3 that the recruitment is leaning towards Tennessee but nothing will be final until next week when Sanders signs his financial paperwork on Early National Signing Day,” wrote Nakos.
It’s still possible that Sanders changes his mind and signs with Ohio State. But for now, this recruitment appears to be trending in Tennessee’s direction (holding on Sanders after a high-profile last ditch effort from the Buckeyes would obviously be huge for the Vols).
