Thieves stealing cars from Ohio airport; the new technology that may help reduce the thefts

Cars continue to disappear from an Ohio Airport.

As reported on News Center 7 at 6:00 , thieves have stolen vehicles with the exact make and model from the John Glenn International Airport in Columbus.

This has been an issue for three years, according to our news partner WBNS in Columbus .

Three Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawks were all stolen from Level Five of the John Glenn Long Term parking garage, WBNS said.

One was found stripped down to the frame. But that’s not the only model.

Two other cars stolen this year include a Dodge Durango and Jeep.

In three of the stolen car cases, the thieves followed behind another car before the gate arm went down. This is known as piggybacking, WBNS reporter Kevin Landers reports.

Since 2021, 11 cars have been from the airport. Five were stolen in 2023. That is the exact number this year.
