A Ross Correctional officer was killed during an alleged inmate attack on Christmas morning

COLUMBUS, OHIO (WLIO) – An Ohio corrections officer was allegedly killed by an inmate during an attack Christmas morning. According to a Facebook post by the director of the Ohio Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, long-time corrections officer Andrew Lansing was killed at Ross Correctional Institute. Director Annette Chambers-Smith offered her sympathy, in the post, to Officer Lansing’s family and talked about how well liked he was by the other prison staff. The Ross Correctional is currently operating under restricted movement, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol will be investigating the incident. The inmate has been moved to Southern Ohio Correctional Facility. The name of the inmate has not been released.
