COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) — The man accused of killing a 71-year-old man inside a Gahanna restaurant was denied bail Thursday during his Thursday hearing.
William Marshall Jr., 30, appeared in Franklin County Municipal Court, accused of aggravated murder. Prosecutors called Det. Matthew Fulmer from the Gahanna Police Department as a witness.
According to Fulmer, authorities found ammunition matching the weapon used during the shooting in Marshall’s vehicle, which was owned by his family. Fulmer said Marshall had purchased the same type of gun in October.
When officers arrived, they found Marshall outside the Subway restaurant at Stoneridge Plaza completely nude and holding only a phone. Witnesses told police that Marshall entered the restaurant and fired one shot into the victim’s head. Allegedly, Marshall then pointed the gun at the shop owner and another employee, telling them to run.
Fulmer said the employees then took shelter in a walk-in cooler, where police found a second shell casing and a hole in the wall. During preliminary investigations, Gahanna police believed there was no known history between Marshall and the victim. Witnesses also said no altercation led up to the shooting.
