Twice-suspended local ‘celebrity’ dentist under investigation after patient dies

A Central Ohio dentist office’s website boasted, “You can get caught up [with dental work] in as little as two visits while you snooze through it all in LaLa Land.”

After a patient died on February 16, three days after being sedated for routine dental work, like a cleaning, fillings, upper and lower dentures, and extractions, the description above has since been removed from Grove City Dental’s website.

On that day, around 8:00 a.m., Michael Beesler went to his dentist appointment to see Dr. Scott Shumann, who sedated him while undergoing the aforementioned dental procedures. Police reports show that around 12:05 p.m., a defibrillator and CPR were used on Beesler, trying to revive him after he stopped breathing.
