Catastrophic Flash Flood Conditions Grips Lower Ohio Valley and Mid-South

LOWER OHIO VALLEY / MID-SOUTH – A potentially historic and life-threatening flash flood event is unfolding across the Lower Ohio Valley, Mid-South, and Lower Mississippi Valley this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Intense thunderstorms, driven by deep moisture and unstable atmospheric conditions, are producing repeated rounds of torrential rain, raising the risk of catastrophic flooding, especially in saturated areas from southeast Missouri to the ArkLaTex region.

The NWS Weather Prediction Center highlights rainfall totals could exceed 10 to 15 inches, with major river flooding expected across the Ozarks, the Ohio Valley, and parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley. Severe weather—including large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes—will continue through Saturday.
