A Son, a Father, a Brother, and a Friend to Many

COLUMBUS, OH – It was the early hours of a Monday morning when gunfire shattered the quiet outside a Waffle House on North Cassady Avenue. What should’ve been just another late-night stop turned into a crime scene, leaving a family devastated and a city with unanswered questions.

According to the Columbus Police Department, on March 27, 2017, at 2:46 a.m., Columbus Police officers responded to reports of shots fired at the Waffle House located at 1405 North Cassady Avenue. When officers arrived, they found 29-year-old Corey LaPaul Brown suffering from a gunshot wound.

Despite efforts to save him, Corey was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:54 a.m.
