Severe Thunderstorm and Tornado Warnings Issued Across West Virginia and Ohio

Residents across parts of West Virginia and Ohio are being urged to take precautions as dangerous weather moves through the region. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a series of severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings on Monday evening, April 14, 2025.

As of 5:40 p.m., a tornado warning is in effect for portions of Clay, Fayette, Putnam, and Kanawha counties in West Virginia. This warning is set to last until 6 p.m., with weather officials reporting winds reaching up to 65 mph near the St. Albans-Nitro area. The storm also has the potential to produce baseball-sized hail, posing a serious threat to people, pets, and property. Flying debris is possible, and the NWS is advising everyone in the affected areas to seek shelter immediately.

Earlier in the day, a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Gallia and Lawrence counties in Ohio, as well as Jackson, Kanawha, Mason, Putnam, and Roane counties in West Virginia. That warning remains in effect through 6:45 p.m.
