Who really controls Ohio’s public school buildings? That’s the rhetorical questions that Today in Ohio podcasters posed in response to a controversial budget proposal that could force school districts to sell buildings against their will.
The proposal would make it easier for the state to force local school districts to sell buildings by changing the definition of “underutilized” – a move that podcast host Chris Quinn blasted as government overreach.
“These are owned by us, the taxpayers of the districts, not the state,” Quinn said. “The state is really violating some local home rule issues here by jamming its fingers into this.”…
