Star House to convert vacant church to drop-in center

COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) — As Columbus continues to grow, some organizations are feeling a strain on their services.

This includes the nonprofit Star House , which is in the process of converting a vacant church to use for drop-in services for youth in the community.

“Currently, our community needs to build 200,000 more units of housing in the next decade to keep up with the projected growth,” Star House CEO Ann Bischoff said. “There’s simply not enough housing to go around.”

For years, Star House has continued its mission of supporting teenagers and young adults as they navigate homelessness and the need for stability, notably helping those 14 to 24 years old.
