OSU powerlifting club fundraising to compete internationally

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The Ohio State University powerlifting club just made waves at nationals in April and received a bid to represent the United States at the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) University World Cup.

“90% of lifters don’t ever get to compete even nationally, so to have an international bid as a university team, it’s pretty unique,” said Zihao Qing, former Ohio State powerlifting club secretary.

But in order to make their global journey happen, members said they need the community’s help. The club’s motto is ‘built not bought’, a reflection of building a community of strength and relationships that cannot be bought. While other universities offer scholarships and large grants to their powerlifting teams, the club is built on members that have chosen to join for fun…
