With summer on the horizon and schools set to release students for break, the Columbus Police Department is launching a bold new initiative aimed at curbing the annual uptick in crime: Operation Overlook. The initiative brings together law enforcement, city officials, educators, parents, and community leaders in a unified effort to reduce crime and save lives.
This all-hands-on-deck strategy comes as Columbus sees a 26.9% reduction in crime compared to last year, with police aiming to cut that number even further. “By the end of the year, our goal is a 50% reduction in all crime,” said CPD leadership. “Columbus could become one of the **top 10 safest cities in America.”
