Suspect in fatal southeast Columbus shooting over Memorial Weekend arrested

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – One person has been arrested in connection with a southeast Columbus shooting that killed a man over the weekend.

According to court records, Talen Trago, 20, was arrested Wednesday and charged in the murder of 22-year-old Trayven Thompson, who was gunned down Sunday afternoon in the Columbus neighborhood of Independence Village, northwest of Pickerington.

Officers arrived at the Amesbury Apartments on Harshman Drive at 2:29 p.m. and found Thompson at the scene, along with at least two shell casings nearby. He was pronounced dead less than 10 minutes later.

A witness told police that they heard shots fired and saw one person fleeing the area on foot. Another witness told police they saw a man run into a residence less than a block away from the shooting. For a previous report on this story view the video player above
