COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A man accused of injuring two police officers in Mifflin Township remains in custody while recovering at a Columbus hospital, while a woman who allegedly harbored the fugitive faced a judge Monday morning.
U.S. Marshals deputies arrested 21-year-old Daveonte Dixon after a statewide search ended Friday afternoon. At 11 a.m. Monday, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Marshals Service and The Mifflin Township Police Department will provide an update on Dixon’s capture and provide details on the woman who helped hide him from authorities.
Two dead after head-on collision in Licking County
Dixon is facing two counts of felonious assault and one count of attempted felony after a routine traffic stop turned into a shootout near the intersection of Perdue Avenue and Mecca Road, just north of Agler Road in a northeast section outside of Columbus city limits.
Franklin County Sheriff Dallas Baldwin said that Dixon fled the scene, armed during the chase, and fired several times at chasing officers. Two officers were injured in the shootout; one was released Thursday, the other underwent multiple surgeries and is recovering…
