Whitehall police welcome drone to the force: ‘It is meant to be a first responder’

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Whitehall Division of Police has a new drone on the force, giving officers a bird’s-eye view that they say are helping them fight crime.

“It is meant to be a first responder, so if we have some sort of priority call, we can deploy the drone while officers are being dispatched,” said Sgt. Chad Nunemaker.

Officers can type in a location from any computer or patrol car to deploy the drone from the roof of the police department. It can get to any location in Whitehall in minutes, typically before officers arrive on the ground…
