Drivers in Ohio and Arizona were warned not to drive due to air quality warnings Tuesday morning. Officials warned of potential health risks for some residents in the midst of “unhealthy” air conditions.
Parts of Ohio were cautioned that “fine particles” would affect air quality levels throughout the day. “If you are in the sensitive groups category of children, the elderly and those with breathing difficulties, please monitor your activity,” the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency wrote in the advisory.
In Arizona, the Department of Environmental Quality issued an ozone high pollution advisory for the Phoenix metro area. Officials said they expect high levels of pollutants will be present throughout Tuesday, due to a combination of area weather conditions and ozone levels.
“Ozone is an air contaminant which can cause breathing difficulties for children, older adults, as well as persons with respiratory problems,” the advisory said.
