Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services Previously Investigated Sanctuary Night

Sanctuary Night, the embattled Franklinton drop-in center serving victims of sex trafficking, was the subject of an investigation earlier this year by the Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services. OhioMHAS was contacted by a concerned neighbor of the center’s Sullivant Avenue facility, and subsequently discovered the complaints were partially founded.

Late in December 2024, Carla Carr, a Franklinton woman living near Sanctuary Night, contacted OMHAS regarding the litany of criminal and nuisance behaviors observed at the center since it opened in 2022. According to OhioMHAS documents, Carr alleged that Sanctuary Night, “has had numerous police calls and overdoses since it opened,” and that the center was “permitting drug abuse and loitering on the property including allowing people to live on the property.”
