COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Independence Day, an annual holiday commemorating the United States’ Declaration of Independence from Great Britain in 1776, is observed every year on July 4.

This year, the Fourth of July holiday falls on a Friday. Some central Ohio stores and restaurants will be open on Independence Day, while other businesses will operate with modified hours or be closed.
