(WJW) — Active bald eagle nests have now been documented in all but one of Ohio’s 88 counties, according to the Ohio Division of Wildlife.
A survey update on the nation’s bird, and once endangered species, was shared on social media just ahead of the Fourth of July holiday.

“Ohio can celebrate a milestone this Independence Day with 964 confirmed active bald eagle nests,” wrote the Ohio Division of Wildlife.
According to a map posted by ODNR, Meigs County in southern Ohio is the only county without an active eagle nest. Bald eagle hot spots include Ottawa, Sandusky, and Erie counties. Ottawa has the largest eagle population in the state with 112 confirmed nests, according to ODNR.
