Three hospitalized after north Columbus crash shut down I-71 South for several miles

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A pedestrian was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck on Interstate 71 in north Columbus Thursday morning.

According to Columbus police, at least one person was injured just after 5:30 a.m. when police say a person was working on their van parked along I-71 South, near the Hudson Street exit in South Linden. Police said the person suffered serious injuries after their van stalled and was hit by an SUV.

Current traffic conditions in central Ohio

Police said in total three people suffered injuries, including two with serious injuries and one in critical condition.

I-71 South was closed from the 17th Street exit and as far north as Interstate 270, a stretch of several miles, for nearly two hours. It was declared open at around 7:15 a.m…
