Pedestrian struck, killed on East Broad Street near Reynoldsburg

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A pedestrian struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross a street on the far east side of the city died at a nearby hospital Monday night.

According to Columbus police, an individual was driving a Toyota Camry eastbound on East Board Street, approaching Blacklick Crossing, just west of Reynoldsburg-New Albany Road. At approximately 10:48 p.m. a man was attempting to cross East Broad Street from the south side of the road, heading northbound.

Ohio sending resources to help with Texas flooding

A witness told police that the Toyota had the green light at the intersection and the man was crossing near, but not through the crosswalk when he was struck. A Columbus Fire Medic unit took 61-year-old Lance Eyster to an area hospital in critical condition, but was later pronounced dead at 11:23 p.m.

The Accident Investigation Unit responded to the crash scene, which remains under investigation…
