After attacks, animal control seeks to educate dog owners

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — After a string of serious dog attacks in Franklin County, animal experts are offering reasons why they are happening and how they can be prevented.

The county’s animal control director said they’re talking with prosecutors and law enforcement to figure out what needs to be done to prevent more from happening.

“We’ve had more already than we typically have in an entire year of serious bites where people are getting into the hospital, people are dying, people are in critical condition,” Franklin County Animal Control Director Kaye Persinger said.

On July 4, four people were attacked by two pit bulls in Franklinton. One of the dogs was shot by police, while the other was euthanized, according to animal control. Animal control said they believe they found a possible owner for the two dogs and the investigation into the attack remains active…
