Previous safety violations found at Columbus chemical plant where leak caused shelter-in-place

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — An NBC4 review of safety records at a chemical plant in Franklinton where a leak caused a shelter-in-place on Monday found multiple prior violations.

The chemical leak happened at GFS Chemicals.

According to documents from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, GFS Chemicals was fined $15,000 in 2018 for violating hazardous waste identification and record keeping practices.
