COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — The Ohio State Fair is enhancing its accessibility with a Sensory Friendly Morning, in collaboration with OCALI, by reducing lights and volume to create a more inclusive environment. Fairgoers can enjoy rides without flashing lights or music, explore educational and sensory activities, and take breaks in a quiet room located in the Voinovich Livestock & Trade Center, presented by Ag-Pro Companies. Headphone icons in the daily schedule indicate suitable activities for those seeking a sensory-friendly experience.
The Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities mobile unit is available for visitors to discuss services and accessibility features at the fair, including wheelchair charging stations, universal changing tables, service animal relief areas, and American Sign Language interpreting. Children can engage in crafting activities using ASL stamps and learn about smartphone accessibility tools.
In addition to sensory-friendly offerings, the fair hosts WOSU Kids Day in Central Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., where families can meet PBS KIDS characters and participate in crafts, coloring, and educational games…
