Columbus charter school sets up new busing plan after students deemed ‘impractical’ by CCS

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A Columbus charter school will not partner with the Columbus City Schools district this year to transport its students.

United Schools Superintendent Andrew Boy said it has partnered with independent transportation company FirstStudent. The company will run 13 buses exclusively for United’s 900 students. Boy said 600 of those students currently take a bus.

Last year, Columbus City Schools deemed it “impractical” to transport some students from private and charter schools. Some charter school leaders, last year, told ABC6 the transportation change created chaos for some of their families and also led to a drop in enrollment…
