COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Police officers in Central Ohio are grappling with an alarming rise in domestic violence cases, with recent incidents involving gunfire directed at officers.
On a recent call, police responded to reports of a brother who shot his sister in Southeast Columbus, only for police to be met with gunfire from the brother upon arrival. This marks a troubling trend, as officers have increasingly faced dangerous situations during domestic violence calls.

Columbus Police Department statistics reveal a concerning increase in domestic violence-related homicides and assaults. Since August 25, there have been ten domestic violence-related homicides and ten felonious assault domestic violence-related cases, five of which involved firearms.
