5 teens arrested after high-speed chase in stolen Kia ends in south Columbus crash

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Five teenagers are facing charges after police say they led officers on a dangerous joyride across Columbus in a stolen car, ending in a crash at Whittier Street and Champion Avenue.

Columbus police say the chase began last Wednesday around 8 p.m. when a silver Kia Optima was reported stolen near North High Street and East Campus View Boulevard. A Columbus Division of Police helicopter spotted the vehicle on Interstate 270 near Dublin and tracked it from the air for approximately 30 minutes.
