Unionization effort targets nurses at Nationwide Children’s Hospital

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A unionization push is targeting nurses at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

The initiative, spearheaded by AFSCME Ohio Council 8, began Monday in response to requests from nurses seeking improved wages, a fair healthcare package, job safety, and better overall working conditions.

AFSCME Ohio Council 8 claimed the nurses at the hospital are among the lowest paid in Central Ohio. The union also highlighted issues such as staff shortages due to cost-cutting measures, safety concerns at the Behavioral Health Pavilion, and high insurance premiums.
