This Sunday, the Blu Note on Town jazz club is slated to open to the public, complimenting the existing Blu Note on Main venue located in the Eastmoor neighborhood on the city’s east side. Owner Derrik Pannell wants to bring more live music back to Downtown Columbus, and saw this opportunity for a jazz club expansion in the Snowden-Gray House as the perfect fit.
“We’ll be doing live jazz in the main room and also on the rooftop patio,” he stated. “They’ve been doing a lot of revitalization in the Discovery District area, bringing a lot of new residents here, so we thought it’d be a great place for a jazz club.”
The Snowden Gray-House, located at 530 East Town Street, was built in 1852 and has functioned as the Governor’s Mansion, a sorority headquarters, and even as jazz venue The Blue Velvet Room, which closed in 2020.
