Columbus police to increase costs of video public records under state law

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Columbus police will charge $37 an hour to produce video public records, such as bodycam, in accordance with a state law that went into effect in April.

The agency announced the change the evening before it went into effect. “For any video requests received on or after September 30, requestors will receive an invoice with the estimated actual cost based on the estimated time to redact and produce the video(s). Requestors will have 15 business days to pay,” the Public Information Office wrote.
