Johnson praises override of DeWine’s property tax veto

COLUMBUS — State Sen. Terry Johnson, R-McDermott, joined his Senate colleagues in overturning one of Governor DeWine’s vetoes on property tax reform.

“I voted to overturn the governor’s veto,” Johnson said. “This override is the first step toward returning property taxes to what they were meant to be. It is time to get this under control — to return to the taxation system to sanity.”

Following the passage of the Operating Budget, House Bill 96, DeWine vetoed 67 sections. Among sections vetoed was the restriction of subdivisions to pursue certain types of levies including but not limited to replacement and substitute emergency levies…
