The wheels are still moving on a plan to connect Chicago, Columbus, Pittsburgh and lots of smaller cities in between via passenger rail. The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) announced today that $650,000 in local funds have been committed toward developing the passenger rail corridor, known as Midwest Connect.
Joining MORPC in submitting the funding commitment to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) are the City of Ft. Wayne, Indiana – a stop on the planned route – and the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission.
Columbus, Hilliard, Dublin, Lima and Marysville are the Ohio cities that have contributed so far to the local match, according to a spokesperson. Including MORPC’s contribution, about $400,000 of the funding came from Ohio…
