COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — One man’s efforts to clean up Columbus is turning into a movement.
Trash Party started with just founder Collin Marshall using a trash grabber to pick up litter along the sidewalk. It has grown into events with up to 50 volunteers cleaning up trash in some of the city’s most underserved neighborhoods.

Marshall says it is not just about beautification. It is about raising awareness about what he says is a pervasive problem in central Ohio.
“I wanted to have pride in our city and have pride in the areas we’re always walking and driving through, and I felt like it was sort of an opportunity to connect a lot of people who aren’t always interacting with each other,” Marshall said. “I feel like it was a response to some isolation issues in our community.”
Trash Party has held 25 events since the spring, with volunteers removing more than 55,000 pounds of trash. They will be at Great Southern Metro Park from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Anyone who wants to help is welcome to join…
