Crews contain fire at southeast Columbus scrapyard

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Firefighters contained a fire at a southeast Columbus scrapyard on Tuesday that sent plumes of smoke that could be seen for miles.

Crews with the Columbus Division of Fire were called to Columbus Auto Shredding, located at 2181 Alum Creek Drive, around 12:15 p.m.

Columbus Fire Lt. Nick Davis said a pile of recycled material caught on fire and crews were able to put out the flames. Crews will stay on scene tonight to make sure embers don’t reignite the fire…
