Body cam footage shows deputy, officer shooting dogs while responding to ‘swatting’ call

Body-worn camera footage released months after law enforcement officials shot and killed a dog while responding to a “swatting” hoax call shows dogs got loose from a bedroom despite efforts by both officers and family members to keep them contained as the home was searched.

Police and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputies went to a home on the 3300 block of South Hamilton Road in Madison Township on July 21 after an anonymous caller told the Columbus police nonemergency line that his dad had shot his mom at the address.

The sheriff’s office said after the incident that the call was unfounded, and a suspected “swatting” call…
