One person arrested after dog found shot in Ohio

OHIO — A 71-year-old Preble County man has been arrested and charged in connection with an animal cruelty investigation, the sheriff’s office said Monday.

Robert Hammaker faces one count of felony cruelty to companion animals and 15 misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals, according to the Preble County Sheriff’s Office. The charges follow a search warrant executed at his home last week.

Deputies reported finding numerous animals, including calves, cows, sheep, and horses, living in unsanitary conditions without adequate food, water, or shelter. Authorities also discovered a dead dog on the property, which had been shot twice…
