Passenger dies after car strikes electric pole in northeast Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — One person is dead after a car crash that occurred Monday morning in northeast Columbus.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, medics arrived just after 2:45 a.m. and two victims were found at the site of a car crash near the intersection of Stelzer Road and Codet Road in the Somerset neighborhood.

Police said an adult driving a 2019 Mazda6 southbound on Stelzer Road lost control and veered off the right side of the road before striking an electric pole. That person was hospitalized in stable condition.

A passenger in the vehicle, 20-year-old Tamya Barnett, was taken to hospital in critical condition. She was later pronounced dead at 3:23 a.m…
