COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A suspect arrested in 2023 in the death of a recent high school graduate the year before could serve over two decades in prison.
According to court records, Tyshawn Jenkins pleaded guilty this month to lesser charges stemming from the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Ayanta Jarman, who was struck and wounded while in a crowd at a party.
Police said Jarmon was attending the party in Columbus’ Marion Franklin neighborhood on July 29, 2022. Officers found Jarman, a recent Reynoldsburg High School graduate, unresponsive at 11:35 p.m. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead early the next day.
