Man who shot three people after line-cutting dispute at Columbus pizzeria receives sentence

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A man arrested in connection to a shooting which began as a dispute over line-cutting at a central Columbus pizza shop has been sentenced to prison.

According to court documents, 33-year-old Willie Stephens pleaded guilty to felonious assault earlier this month and could spend over 10 years in prison for shooting three people after a dispute at Del Baggio Pizzeria in the city’s Italian Village.

Columbus police were called to the intersection of East Fifth and Summit Avenues on Sept. 27, 2024 and found two people suffering from gunshot wounds in the back. Both were taken to an area hospital in stable condition, while a third victim checked themselves into a hospital with a gunshot wound to the torso.

The dispute reportedly began after the victims cut in line at the pizza shop, leading to the dispute between them and Stephens, who was identified by video surveillance footage. Police arrested Stephens several days later and he was issued a $750,000 bond…
